Superb Walking Opportunities in Las Alpujarras

Come and enjoy a walking holiday in Las Alpujarras region of Andalucia. Walking routes include the famous white villages, GR7 footpath, high forests of the Alpujarras, gorges, ancient waterways and local refuges. The terrain drops from the jagged heights of the Sierra Nevada to forested gorges and citrus groves; on the sierra’s lower slopes sits the Alpujarras region, which has a series of tiny, whitewashed Moorish villages clinging precariously to the side of the hills. These villages provide our hotel accommodation and allow us to sample the delights of simple village life, good wines and local tapas. Indeed this is the area brought to life by Chris Stewarts famous book "Driving Over Lemons".

Between the Sierra Nevada and the coastal ranges you will find a depression through which runs the rivers Guadalfeo, Adra and Andarax. These are fed from numerous springs which are a product of the snow capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada, producing crystal clear waters enriched with minerals. Many of the villages have public drinking fountains where you can enjoy an ice cold glass of mineral water or fill a bottle for later.

What people say...

PLODDERS RAMBLING CLUB

"Thanks very much. We had an awesome trip. The organisation was faultless, the walks were superb and all the guides exceptional. It is the personal touch that makes the difference, meeting us in the bar for drinks, joining in the Irish craic and banter etc."

KERRY KILNER

"It was such a great experience that I plan to tell as many as I can about it. I’ve been reading Driving Over Lemons these past couple of days. It’s such a great portrait of the Alpajurras. Thanks for giving us a wonderful experience."
